You want to abolish gender and yet you are supporting women?? That's a gender. Explain this.

genderheretic:

First of all, that’s not a gender. There are two things. Gender and sex. Women are adult human females. Female = sex. Gender = the socially constructed concept of femininity and masculinity. When a male is born, they are groomed  and socialized according to/ into masculinity, socially constructed ideal of ‘man’. When a female is born, she is groomed and socialized according to/ into femininity, socially constructed ideal of ‘woman’. The concepts of manhood and womanhood differ from culture to culture. It is socially/culturally relative. It is not inherent. Females are not inherently more interested in dresses than sports, vice versa.

http://www.med.monash.edu.au/gendermed/sexandgender.html

Gender is what confines and oppresses women into ritualized submission (‘femininity’) and men into ritualized domination (‘masculinity’). Gender is a hierarchy, with men at the top and women at the bottom. Gender abolition aims to dismantle this hierarchy.

In a world where gender has been abolished, males and females would not be forced into any sort of predetermined social role (and lucky for females, one that does not embody being inferior!). We could be however we want to be, and there would be no such thing as ‘boy things’ and ‘girl things’. It would be a gender neutral world, basically. But it doesn’t limit to toys, obviously: “So femininity, well that’s just a set of behaviors that are in essence ritualized submission. So female socialization is a process of psychologically constraining and ultimately breaking girls, and that process is called grooming. And that creates a class of compliant victims. So across history, those practices have included foot binding, female genital mutilation, and of course the ever popular childhood sexual abuse. Femininity is really just the traumatized psyche displaying acquiescence. Now this is not natural; it is not created by god. It is a corrupt and brutal social order. Gender is not some cosmic yin/yang; it’s a fist, and the flesh that bruises.”
Abolishing gender means abolishing concrete institutions of oppressive power: battery, trafficking, reproductive control, and on and on.”

I prioritize the SEX CLASS that is FEMALES (or women, adult human females, girls being young human females…etc) because we are institutionally oppressed on the basis of our sex, upon which we are reared into the social (gender) role of ‘woman’ that consists of compulsory femininity, which as you understand is ritualized submission to the sex class that is males, based on the hierarchy that is gender that each sex is pulled into.

from http://secretlyradical.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/feminism-and-transgender-identity.html?m=1 :

Female humans are expected and raised from birth to be submissive (“feminine”). Male humans are expected and raised from birth to be dominant (“masculine”). Feminists call this gender, and feminist gender analysis deconstructs the notion that there is anything “natural” about it. Gender in this context is seen instead as a social tool to naturalize women’s dependence on men, and thereby ensure male access to female bodies.

2. We are expected to signal our maleness or femaleness in various visual ways specific to our time and place, but gender is not about fabric color or hair length. Those are merely signals for others to know where we fall in the social hierarchy of male over female.

3. Femaleness does not naturally equate to the human personality traits labeled feminine, nor does maleness naturally equate to the human personality traits labeled masculine. Human personality development should not be limited based on sex, nor, as in the case of male violence, excused because of it.

4. In a post-gender world, all the stuff of human life would still be there, but access to it would no longer be limited by perceived reproductive potential. Boys and girls could all play with and wear whatever they like. Men and women could all explore their human personalities to the fullest. Men would not be pressured into violence nor excused for it. Men and women could share responsibility for the care of children. Feminism is by, for and about women, but would benefit anyone who longs for a more just world.

Dude, Peter Capaldi totally refused to flirt with Clara in the new series.

Damn, I’m so ready for this.

In that same article he states that he’s going to make the story line less confusing and over the top and focus on the plot. I think I’m in love.

If you take a young man and woman and they both tell a stranger that they work in the same restaurant, it’s very likely that they will assume that the woman is the waitress, and the young man a cook.

But I thought a woman’s place was in the kitchen? Not when she’s being paid for it. I can’t believe it took me this long to realize the implication of this. A woman’s place is one of servitude.

this fucking hit me like a fucking train
